I like your comment my friend. My dad brought me up like that, unfortunatly my mum was the opposet and thought the best idea was to run away and tell the teacher. The result? i never actually stood up to bullies and i was pushed around my entire school life. Heck i remember the bullies girlfriend even told him to leave me alone... a girl sticking up for me coz i was too wuss to do anything!! Thank heavens for my Sensei teaching me what i know now. My kids will be taught the above comment.

Wouldnt an experienced Karateka be able to disarm somebody with a weapon? (Im new to all this so forgive me if thats a dumb question)

Fellow members from the UK may remember this story, thought id share it with the world... a biker is minding his own business in his home with his family when a skin head, loud-mouth thug well known in the area turns up on his door step shouting abuse and trying to vandalise his bike. The thug gathers a crowd by shouting insults, threatening the calm biker and swearing at him. Things get ugly but the biker just stands there nice and calm and makes sure his front door is closed behind him with his family safe inside the house. The thug goes for a punch... BUT... the calm biker turns out to be a 2nd dan black belt and Gulf War Veteran, with one punch the thug goes down. Thug crawls away. The biker closes his gate after him and goes back inside. Hi guys. I just started in Shotokan Karate and ive bought my very first Gi. Its a RUPLA size 6 (im 190something cm tall. 6 foot 3inches). However, im worried if ive bought the wrong Gi because altho the trousers fit perfect, the sleeves just pass my wrists. Also the bottom of the coat comes down to the middle of my thighs. I see the other students with Gi's that look like theyre made of much thinner material and the bottom of the coat doesnt come as far. Have i bought the wrong one?
