  1. My style is a hybrid of boxing and TKD. I am only a orange belt in TKD right now so my skills are still devloping. Pros: Punching power, along with accuracy and speed. Many people in TKD do not practice punching so they are not prepared to defend against it. Kicking power, which is devloping rapidly. The fact that My style used both punching and kicking, imo, makes it a very forceful style. Cons: No grappling, if some one were to grapple with me, and they had any experience at all, they would certainly win.
  2. I had one experience with judo in my life and I must say that I enjoyed it. My sisters boyfriend has a black belt in judo, and is extremly talented, he taught me a few things, and it mad me want to learn more. Some day i would really like to take up judo or any other grappling style MA.
  3. Doug: I agree with the whole learning from book/video tape thing, but when you live on a small island, it is sort of hard to find instructors within a reasonable distance away ^_^. Tobias: I would love it if you could give me that list, at least it will get me started, thanks a lot!! You can msg me on AIM or MSN, or you can e-mail them to me, either way, thanks ^_^.
  4. Hello, I just bought a pair of Tonfa and now I am looking for something to help me learn how to use them. Does any one know some good Websites, books or videos that I can look into? Any help will make me very happy ^_^, Thanks.
  5. When I was in boxing, I was conciderd a big guy. But there was a bigger guy than me, and I had the same problem. I was not used to fighting taller people, so I was sort of lost, but I still held my own. The next time I spared with him i would wait for him to through any punch then I would slip it over my sholder (away from his other hand) and drill him with a hook into the ribs, once I was in he could not het me out and I could controll the match. I am not sure if this will help because this is for punching, but if you wait for him to through then slide in, it would work.
  6. I boxed for three years before I took up TKD, and i can tell you one thing, Boxing gave me a hudge advantage in TKD. There was a few things to get used to, the whole kicking thing and the new hand positions. Boxing made me tough so I was not afraid of getting hurt, others in the club noticed this and enjoyed sparing with me. Boxing allows you to see stricks comming so you have great defence. Linking the punches together with kicks seemed to come naturally to me. I think it would be harder to go from TKD to Boxing because of the whole punching to the head thing. I suggest mixing the two, even if you do not catch on right away, you will get a great work out.
