White Belt (1/10)

  1. Thanks for insight. Very good stuff. But regards to second question - why then is it called OknawaTe not Okinawa karate? And what symbols would you use?
  2. I see two symbols and am wondering which is which: テ and 手 What's the difference and how do you use it? When writing in English, for example, would it be: Goju Ryu-Te or Goju Ryu Te or Goju RyuTe OkinwaTe or Okinawa-Te or OkinawaTe and which symbol is to be used? テ or 手?
  3. I've seen RyuKyu Kempo, but am looking for -Te not kempo. Is there a history or system behind this name?
  4. I think it is close as it can get right? His name is Kieran Marcus.
  5. Thank You - I'll find out. What does Kurenmakasu mean? I looked it up on google and didn't get anything.
  6. Here is picture. http://www.mypicx.com/uploadimg/2121722452_06192010_1.jpg THanks!
  7. I feel that 'rule' is extremely over the top. I have had three kids in karate. From a very early age. To take them to and from the dojo in street clothes and to clothe them in the dojo is inconvenient and has nothing do do with respect for the art. How should this be a 'no-no'? I can accept, and see, that wearing your belt outside of the dojo may be considered a rule, but your gi? That's just over the top.
  8. My 15 year old son got his black belt and I was looking at it and there are Japanese characters on it. I'm assuming it is Japanese and I'm assuming this is a 'normal' black belt from Golden Tiger Martial Arts supply store. Does anybody know what the writing says?
