Matthias's Achievements

White Belt

White Belt (1/10)

  1. Chuck Norris more for his outspoken commitment to Jesus Christ and Evangelical Christianity and his Kickstart youth karate programs than his martial arts prowess. True, he was six time world champion in professional karate, but to be honest, I was never all that impressed with his speed. Bruce Lee because of his awesome ability. Sijo John N. Beall because he's such a class act and a very outstanding Wing Chun practitioner and teacher. Tom Laughlin, because his movie "Billy Jack" really inspired me. I know somebody else did all the high kicks, but Laughlin was the writer, director and star of the movie and did some competent hapkido in it. Jackie Chan because he brought comedy into martial arts movies and his amazing ability in movement.
  2. For those of you who have watched the new "Karate Kid" movie starring Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan, what do you think of it? Is it worth paying out the big bucks to see it on the big screen, or is it more of a rent it from redbox, or is it one to skip entirely? All opinions appreciated.
  3. Thanks, I'm looking forward to studying tai chi.
  4. Tae-Kwon-Do, Wing Chun, Krav Maga and one that will remain anonymous. Cool what style of TKD? The first was full contact tae-kwon-do, the second was non contact which the teacher said traditional tae-kwon-do is-non contact. Others have disagreed with that, and have told me that traditional is not non contact, but that was what I was told. Beyond that, I can't really say what style of tae-kwon-do it was. You can contact Ed Bailey out of Edmonds, Washington and ask him, he's on the internet, I really don't know. The other was at a college, I don't have any contact info. for that teacher, I'm sure he's retired now, he was head of security at the college, he taught tae-kwon-do for the love of the art.
  5. Tae-Kwon-Do, Wing Chun, Krav Maga and one that will remain anonymous. The reason the last one will remain anonymous is it is a style that not a lot of people have studied and the founder doesn't like forums like this, he sees them as gossip. If I put the name in it will stay in google forever and he won't like it. Just thought I would let you know why it is anonymous in case your curious.
  6. I'm not currently studying any system in a school. The next style I will study is tai chi, primarily to help learn to relax, I've always had a problem with relaxing. There's a good school near where I live, I should be able to join in a few months when I get caught up on bills. The style I would really like to study is not taught in my area, but it incorporates a lot of tai chi in it. I look forward to getting to know you all, I hope you all have a good day.
