I Know i haven't been on here because i've been training so much. But June 12th almost everyone from the dojo competed in the tournament and me destroyed it. There are definately people that remember us (and dislike but those are just the competitors that dont really like us) lol. But in sparring jon and i destroyed everyone then it came down to jon and me fighting. jon won. i dont remember what everyone had won cause there are so many of us. But we wear ringstar sparring shoes and ringstar contacted sifu and said that they want us to be in it for an ad for ringstar shoes in "Inside Karate" and "Inside Kung Fu" and then we get to be in the paper... this may sound stupid but i never thought all this would be comin for training karate and just going to tournaments. not only would i like to see more karate but also some flying knees to the face like jose aldo!!!! that was the best quick ending fight i've ever seen. and if any of you guys have played the ufc undisputed 2009 video game at the beginning of the career the owner of ufc says you dont get in by having karate trophies. haha WHAT ABOUT LYOTO MACHIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HE KICKS BUTT IN EVERY SINGLE FIGHT!!! haha i think its hilarious that the guy said that in a video game for all of the world to hear and then go watch machida's fights

Defend/block/counter the front leg side kick...
RyanG replied to bushido_man96's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
well the block i always use is a down block or a parry that normall works for all kicks. and then if i use a parry i move to the side and either punch to the kidneys or roundhouse kick to the stomach or straight to the ribs i did that to this one guy and not only did he stumble back but it also knocked the breath outa him -
the post by "austinG010" it should've ais my name...i thought i was signed in but it was austin.....sooooo yeah i just realized that and quickly signed into my profile lol

Okay, so this saturday in Chatsworth, Georgia there is a tournament. I've been training for 4 Months. So i'm hoping i'm ready...no...i know i am ready. I'm gonne be in the (Kata, Kumite, & Team Kumite) Can any of you guys give me some tips on the kumite like i've been thinking... Say as if he throws a Right Punch and i do an Inside block and knock him off guard and then i quick slip to the side of him and punch hhim in the side. and if he goes for a roundhouse kick im gonna come in with a round house kick of me own except mine is going to his knee that he's coming at me with. or i could kick him in the lower part of the leg or something. any of you guys have any tips or advice????

Think i have a chance???
RyanG replied to RyanG's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
Well there is a BJJ gym in the mall and there you can also learn MMA and Muay Thai. and for now im going for BJJ and then Muay Thai. But im only 14 (15 next month) so i have 4 years before i'm even able to actually fight real MMA fights so i have plenty of time to train and figure out what i truely want to do. and yeah, im 10 pounds off. i can try to gain those 10 pounds by eating more (but right) and working out alot more. -
Well i know i need to get a black belt in shotokan. But since the first time i saw UFC i wanted to train mma or anything i could in order to be able to try out for the UFC and i know that i would have to get in muh much better shape than i am now cause im 15, 5' 11", and 145 lb. But im quick as ever i can dodge any kick or punch you throw at me unless me hair is down in my face. lol But i tonight im gonne go check out BJJ just to see what its like. And if i could get a black belt in shotokan karate and BJJ i think i should be able to take MMA fighting. what do you guys think??? cause thats what i'd love to do in the future

Should i try out for BJJ???
RyanG replied to RyanG's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
okay cool cause me and my friends taylor and jon are wanting to take BJJ really bad -
lol well it went pretty good just that the test is going to last all week and then maybe part of next week so thats good i have extra days to make sure my stances are near perfect.
-
okay will do
-
Okay, So tonight is definately the night of my first test. I know its easier said than done but sensei said yesterday "When your testing your mind goes completely blank." I'm going to try to keep my mind completely clear except for what i'm doing. My mind is scrambling right now but i'm trying to keep it clear already and concentrate on what i'm going to be doing. Guys, Wish me luck i'm sorta kinda nervous cause i have a few things i need to work on about my stance and i'm hoping i can fix those tonight. -RyanG

Well i have been training in Shotokan Karate for about 4 months now and there is this place in another part of town that teaches Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. And i REALLY REALLY wanna start taking that also. I dont know that much about it other than they teach ground wrestling. But im only 14 and am about 5" 10" and weigh 145 lb. Is there anyway that they'd let me train in BJJ since im so young?
