Oh and 3rd dans dont know everything [ This Message was edited by: karateronin on 2002-03-13 01:43 ]

We do not always learn martial arts skills from our students but sometimes life skills. Skills such as paitience, perseverance, humility, joy, sadness, all these and many other skills are learnt through the martial arts lessons. Sometimes students and instructors dont realise this and never acknowledge these skills have come from their training. Last night Mr Reece jnr told me he gave a presentation at college and because of skill in using a computer and his skill of teaching others (martial arts students) he gave the best presentation. I learnt from Mr Reece jnr that I have a purpose in life. That pupose is to help others gain these skills through our martial arts programs. POLL: What do you think would be the best weapon to use in a
karateronin replied to Patrick's topic in Martial Arts Weapons
SaiFightsMs is the only one who has the right answer I think Your best weapon is always your brain. Steve Leak AKA Karateronin No mortal is my master -
ken what books you been reading?? Chuck learnt it from muay thai? The guy was a world champion several times before muay thai even raised its head in the west.. Other systems especially Japanese and Korean martial arts evolved from Tang Te or chinese hand which evolved from shoulin kung fu which evolved from INDIAN karipyit And you cant beat a good indian as they say in Bradford, Yorkshire. And you can even get chicken tikka and onioin bahjies at our Mc D`s _________________ karateronin is the Chief Instructor of Karate International Black Belt Schools UK. Ken I think what you actualy implied was that all karate-ka were fools. I quote: Any fool can do a front kick. You also seemed to think that only kickboxers or muay thai practicioners can do roundhouse kick. Sorry but look at Chuck Norris (Tang Soo Do), Frank Brennan (Shotokan), Mas Oyama (Kyokoshinkai) etc. How do you block a Jodan (head Height) roundhouse with your shin or knee?. Unless you are a contorsionist. Respect to Mr Inosanto
-
What on earth are you talking about thaiboxerken? Karate as ALWAYS dictated that you use your hip extension in a front kick. Its quite obious to veyone here that you are not or have ever been a serious karate student. I have every respect for jeet kun do practictioners but if you are really a student of Mr Inosanto then you are not listening to him very well. I am sure that he does not share your views about my way is the best way! Get a life Ken, Get real, Get KARATE There is always a defence to ANY kick or punch but its only as good or as useful as the person delivering it
-
Ahh Angie + Krystina You didnt read what I said so here it is again If a person comes to our dojo being say a 3rd kyu in wado ryu then they shall reamain a third kyu until they are proficiant in Shotokan to take 2nd kyu this could take a few months or a few years depending on the student. As wado evolved from shotokan then the time would only be short. As you are aware we are a non political organisation and to remove someones grade would be a political act.
-
Hi Valn. Just let you know its not all about money what style`s have you studied? What grades do you hold. My association will recognise them and not charge a penny

What Makes A Black Belt?
karateronin replied to karateronin's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
And here is the answer... Some little dude in a factory in Silkot, India and gets paid a pitence for his labour. Remember that next time you put yours ON -
What you say is true submissionfighter. change the type of art studied then revert to white belt. But from karate to karate keep it until you are ready to progress further in your new style
-
The real answer to the question is can we remove the knowledge already aquired from our brains? So why must a person be demoted in rank if the style changes. When I get a student from another style join my McDojo I leave them at their present rank until they are ready to move to an higher rank in Shotokan Karate. To remove their present rank would be political and I do not believe in the politics of martial arts. Our martial art is what we make it as individuels not as clones of our instructors.
