Right now is an exciting time in the NHL -- the trade deadline is tomorrow, and teams with players who are going to be free agents after this season need to decide whether they are going to be buyers -- do they plan on making a serious run at the Stanley Cup this year? If so they will look to fill any holes in their lineup with pending UFA's (unrestricted free agents) in exchange for prospects or draft picks. Other teams that know they aren't going to make the playoffs will tend to be sellers -- trading away their unrestricted free agents hoping to get assets back to help them retool for next year. Of course then there are teams that aren't sure what to do, and will stand pat.

Sadly, my team, the St Louis Blues haven't done nearly as well as their roster suggests they should. They traded away all of their (marketable) pending free agents, but at least they did this earlier than most and were able to get some decent return on those trades. However, this also means that the team is now trying to re-establish its identity and has lost the last 6 games. It's sad I know.

Of course, since I moved to Colorado, I can appreciate the Avs. They are actually doing really well right now, and just added a couple of new UFA's so hopefully that will help out somewhat. Until last night, they had won 6 games in a row... and last night's game was a really good one, even if they lost.

So... as I said, the second most exciting time of the NHL season. Of course, the most exciting time is the playoffs, which are just around the corner!

ROBOTS…yes…ROBOTS…but not just ordinary robots, but humanoid robots, has finally concluded.

More than 500 humanoid robots in 280 teams from 16 countries, including the U.S., Germany and Japan have wrapped up 3 days in its very first games, like Olympic type games, but not without any technical difficulties.

Games like soccer, track and field, tennis,  boxing, and more. Rock-N-Sockem Robots has come to fruition.

I thought I would start this thread and try to keep it going throughout the season. I'll throw in my weakly shpeal on the Chiefs game, and maybe something about the fantasy side of it as well. If anyone wants to talk/brag/cry about their teams' performance as well, feel free!

Ok, week 1, Kansas City. Kind of what I expected. NO offensive line....kind of expected this with the retirement of all pro left tackle Willie Roaf, and the departure of all pro full back Tony Richardson.

I was pleased with the defense, and should have started defensive end Jared Allen on my fantasy team. Holding the Bengals offense to 23 points is a feat.

And now, the dagger in my heart....the injury to quarterback Trent Green. Reports said that at the hospital he was alert and had control of all of his extremities, but could not remember what happened to injure him. Hopefully he will be ok, and be back in the lineup in a few weeks. He has not missed a start in 5 years with the Chiefs.

As for fantasy league, well touchdowns are everything in my league, and I didn't score enough to get anywhere. Oh, well, there's always next week!

I once paid 500 dollars per ticket for the VIP experience and floor seats (not front row) to see Guns N Roses when they partly got back together in 2016.  The show was in San Diego, at the old Chargers stadium which has since been torn down. It was a lot at the time but seems like a bargain now compared to what some of the tickets are going for. 

Stamp shows Bruce Lee in a flying side kick with a background of yellow brush stroke that gives respect to the color of the jumpsuit that Bruce Lee wore in “Game of Death”. The flying side kick makes it appear the he is breaking in half the words “Bruce Lee USA Forever”.

I’m guessing that a book of this forever stamp might cost $18, which is a normal price for USPS Forever Stamps.

I’ll be getting at least 2 books for myself.

I am in the process of shopping for my first home, a condo, and would appreciate any feedback, especially if you have experience buying a condo or in real estate.  I am finding so far there are a lot of things to factor in.  Price, location, building structures, neighbors, HOA, inspections, and on and on. As I mentioned this is my first time through the home buying process, and I have no background in real estate, so I am learning as I go.  I have probably looked at 12-15 locations so far and keep finding problems with them.  I did make an offer earlier this week, however after inspection I am started to reconsider.  What are some red flags to look for? How do I manage the stress of the process?  I am working with an agent who has over 25 years' experience, this was after meeting with four agents and deciding on who to work with, including one who I fired. 

Thanks for the feedback, I am finding the whole process to be nerve wracking.  I am not enjoying this at all, instead of being excited about finding a home to own I just dread and worry about what can/will go wrong. 

A couple of years ago (just realised it has been that long!) we had a Karate Forums fantasy baseball league - i was wondering if anyone would like to have one again? There is always a fair amount of engagement on the NFL thread and wondered if more people would be open to a fantasy baseball run through this time.

If so then please post on this thread / mark with a thumbs up and i will see the numbers. Was thinking an auto draft league (you rank your players pre draft) and rotisserie (so just score points rather than weekly match ups) but if people would prefer head to head then thats fine. I think auto draft will best accommodate the different time zones etc. for the players

We've got the defending world champions....NY YANKEES going against the Red Sox in Boston on the opening day. The Yankees roster looks good, their depth looks good, bats look good, the bullpen looks good, the fight for the number 5 pitching rotation spot looks good, Mo looks good...it's all good!

Yankees will miss the veteran presence of Johnny Damon and Hideki Matsui as well as the clutch, Melky Cabrera. On the other side of the trade coin, the Yankees added Chan Ho Park from the Phillies and I look forward to him helping the Yankees defend the title and go on to win #28...World Series' that is.

This 2026 Wrestlemania for 1 ticket in Section A4 Row 2, that’s the section that the main camera films and if your in the section, you’ll be on camera a lot.

Btw, that 1 ticket will cost you $46,219.20. You do get to take your chair home with you.

I STILL can’t do the taxi whistle!!

Whether it’s the two-finger or 4-finger or without fingers in my mouth, all I get is a headache and a sore jaw and lips. I use to be able the hand-cupped whistle whenever I was a teen, but no more.

 I’ve watched a countless YouTube videos to learn how to do the loud taxi whistle with no success.

I can regular whistle without a problem; I can whistle a tune.

How am I going to hail a taxi if I can’t do the loud whistle?!? No, buying a whistle isn’t an option.

Anyone else watching this new Dexter series?  I was a huge fan of the original, and then loved what they did with New Blood, and Original Sin, and so far this has been great as well.  I was concerned that they might be dragging it out too much and it would get lame, but so far the writing has been brilliant.  Michael C, Hall is back as Dexter, this time trying to reunite with his son, Harrison, who works at a hotel in New York City.  

As with many shows, the more I see it the better the show gets.  Six of the ten episodes are available, I hope it will keep getting better. 

Brady is also part of the FOX Broadcast team, which means that Brady gets access to coaches and players from all the other teams.

After some complaining that this was an unfair advantage last year, that talk had mostly died down.

During the Raiders VS Chargers MNF, you can see that Brady is not only at the game, which is what owners do, BUT he’s also seen in the coach’s box. Not just sitting with the coaches but he’s also wearing a headset.

The NFL world got in a tizzy…Raiders were cheating…it’s not fair that Brady gets access to all other teams and can use it to help the Raiders.

Did you see the game?!? Did it look like the Raiders had secret insight into anything?!? I mean, the Raiders lost across the board!! Raiders coach Pete Carroll said Tom is not helping coach the team, Brady was only listening in!!

The NFL said that Brady didn’t break any rules!!
